Link 51 has launched two new RIBA-approved CPD seminars for architects that will help to challenge the way they think about storage design.
The modules, which look at the design issues relating to personal storage in high use areas, and high density storage applications, form part of RIBA’s core curriculum and complement Link 51’s original CPD, Design with Storage in Mind – a Specifier’s Guide.
Tom Roy, Specification Sales Manager at Link 51, said: “The new interactive workshop and personal storage seminar provide real challenges to design professionals and architects who are keen to adopt innovative design techniques in their projects.
Personal Storage: What comes first – the room or the user? is a one-hour-long seminar that focuses on the design of locker schemes in a variety of sectors from schools and universities to gyms, leisure centres and offices. It examines the common pitfalls in locker specification and looks at how design aesthetics can be improved.
An Interactive Insight into Storage Design Considerations gives participants the opportunity to build a high-density storage scheme so they can develop an understanding about the complexities of specification and their impact on building design and cost.
The innovative workshop, which is one hour and 30 minutes long, will incorporate three workshop tasks. Using an interactive 3D model, participants will explore the impact of storage on building design and determine which storage solutions best meet the needs of the client.
“These new modules cover fundamental issues that any architect or designer should take into consideration when they are designing a storage space,” explained Tom.
“As the UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of workplace storage solutions, we are well placed to provide a valuable insight into the challenges faced by professionals in this sector – and the design solutions that can be used to overcome them.
“The interactive workshop and personal storage seminar will provide designers the knowledge they need to ensure that the space they are working with is used effectively.”
The CPD seminars have been designed by Link 51 to inform the industry on the correct specification of storage schemes in new build, refurbishment and conversion projects. Seminars can be booked directly with Link 51 at www.link51.com/specifiers/architects or through www.RIBAcpd.com .
